Creative, Classic French · ★★ Michelin

Since taking over the culinary reins from Joachim Wissler, Dennis Kuckuck, his long-time sous-chef and trusted colleague, has continued to uphold the high standards of this elegant fine dining restaurant. The cuisine, based on the French classics and rounded out with modern influences, is a real treat for diners – think wonderfully tender, poached and lightly flambéed winter cod, served with salmon roe and a buttery vin jaune sauce with savoury spruce shoot oil. Here, they know just how to bring out the natural flavours of the superb ingredients. The dishes have a clear structure and harmoniou

Brothers Alejandro and Christopher Wilbrand have transformed this historical inn into a place where diners can relax and indulge. Their cuisine succeeds in striking an interesting balance between classic gastronomy and a creative brand of modern cooking. They use first-rate ingredients to conjure up two set menus: one regular and one vegetarian. The well-thought-out dishes draw on regional culinary heritage as well as more far-flung European influences. On-point recommendations from the excellent wine list. In addition to their fine dining restaurant, the Wilbrands also preside over the less f

La Cuisine Rademacher
french · ★ Michelin

Although not in the prettiest part of town and a little removed from central Cologne, this restaurant is well worth seeking out. In a well-kept listed building occupying a corner plot, chef-patron Marlon Rademacher and his dedicated team welcome diners to this modern, tastefully designed space. Made with outstanding quality ingredients, the cooking is refined and contemporary. Choose between the standard set menu and the "Menu du Prestige". A vegetarian set menu can be ordered at the time of booking. There is also a small à la carte selection, plus a reasonably priced lunch menu.

What a fabulous property! With this magnificent villa, Michael and Birgitta Quendler have opted for a highly distinguished setting in which to indulge their guests. Elegant style, warm tones, beautiful wooden floors, large mullioned windows – the overall effect is really inviting. Add to the location the attentive and competent service and Michael Quendler's cooking. Although predominantly a classic affair, his cuisine is still modern and enjoyably pared down – he is adept at weaving the different flavours of his excellent ingredients together, in dishes such as red prawn with mushrooms, leek

In their well-established restaurant – it’s been in the same family since 1895 – Hermann and Kerstin Berger prepare internationally inspired cuisine such as sliced salmon in a rocket and pesto crust with teriyaki beans, mashed potato and sweet mustard. The interior is cosy with a modern note.

With its cosy and lively atmosphere, Postschänke is a fantastic alternative to Zur Post, the fine-dining restaurant. Here, the delicious seasonal cuisine made with select, fresh ingredients goes down a treat. They serve a daily set menu with options, as well as daily specials. The service is exceedingly friendly and attentive.

Modern Cuisine, Contemporary

Now that Nelson Müller and his team have moved from Essen to Bergisch Gladbach, the affable restaurateur and celebrity chef is showcasing his dine dining cuisine at Diepeschrather Mühle, a converted mill set in beautiful natural surroundings. They serve a modern, ambitious set menu with seasonal influences. Great attention to detail and an unfailing sense of balance never fail to impress in dishes such as "Seabed" – turbot, roe sauce, morel ravioli, mandarin, caviar or "From the Bresse" – imperial quail, spring chicken, pointed cabbage, duck liver, grapes. The vegetarian version of the set men
