Das Grace
Modern Cuisine, Farm to table · ★ Michelin
€€€€
A former naval building right on the marina houses The James, a sophisticated hotel that is also home to this chic and elegant restaurant. The 7m-high ceiling and chandeliers draped in silk make quite an impression, as do the views of the marina from some of the seats. The exclusive atmosphere is enhanced by the friendly and attentive front-of-house team, who serve up Quirin Brundobler's modern, seasonal cuisine in the form of two set menus: "Farm" and "Fjord". His dishes, such as Hörup pork cheeks or lightly seared sole, may be pleasingly uncomplicated, but they are brimming with flavour. Muc

Meierei Dirk Luther
Classic Cuisine · ★★ Michelin
€€€€
The elegant, modern setting with a Nordic feel and the magnificent view over Flensburg Firth are exceptionally inviting from the outset. The visual appeal is topped only by Dirk Luther's wonderful set menu. Your anticipation builds as you enter and get a glimpse into the kitchen through the viewing windows. The classically based dishes are well thought out, displaying both depth and finesse, and place top-quality ingredients centre stage – outstanding examples include turbot and lobster from Denmark! The set menu is available in six or eight courses; for the six-course format, there are two st

Pearl by Paul Proffitt
Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin
€€€
Head for the Flesborg Fjord, and at the water’s edge you’ll find this early-20th-century villa boasting a cosy bar, parquet floors and light wood furnishings. After almost a decade working at Henne Kirkeby Kro, British-born Paul Proffitt set upon his own in this most idyllic spot on the opposite side of south Jutland; book a space in the glass-cubed ‘Doris’ to watch him up close. Modern cuisine marries local produce and a little playful childhood nostalgia, in dishes such as dripping served with a buttery brioche, aged dairy cow tartare or a surf 'n' turf of sirloin with oyster cream.

Minato
Sushi, Japanese
€€
This is just one of the options in the diverse range of restaurants within the Das James hotel, which is housed in a former naval building at the marina. Here you can look forward to truly authentic Japanese cuisine in the form of two set menus: the "James Sushi Menu" and the "Omakase" surprise menu. The chic design with a subtle Far Eastern touch and the friendly, competent service create a harmonious atmosphere. Minato is an appealing alternative to the restaurant's Das Grace and James Farmhouse and, as such, has many regular guests.

James Farmhouse
Regional Cuisine, Seasonal Cuisine
€€
Fresh and tasty cuisine is served here, and the menu is strongly influenced by the restaurant's own farm. For example, they raise their own Husum red pied pigs, chickens and German Angus cattle – exceptionally tender rump steaks guaranteed. The decor is a blend of industrial chic and charming retro style. Very friendly service. There is a smaller menu at lunchtime. Alongside the restaurants Das Grace and Minato, this is another dining option at the Hotel Das James, which enjoys a charming location on the harbour.

If you don’t fancy the gourmet cuisine on offer at Meierei, you can enjoy fresh, international fare or just a slice of home-made cake in the less formal atmosphere of the Brasserie.
