Guest scores & sentiment

From 344 guest reviews · multi-source · as of 2026-07-18

Guests highly praise the mountain location, ski-in access, abundant organic dining, and tranquil spa/yoga facilities. Rooms are spacious and cozy, with generally warm staff. However, some note inconsistent service speed, aging infrastructure, and limited winter access/parking. Overall, it offers a highly enjoyable stay with room for operational refinement.

Having worked with some big names in the industry, such as Johanna Maier, Andreas Döllerer and Mario Lohninger, Andreas Herbst has returned home (dahoam in the local dialect) with his wife Andrea to take over the reins of Hotel Riederalm from his parents. His connection to his homeland is reflected in his culinary philosophy, as he finds creative ways to marry traditional with modern. This involves a lot of fermenting, pickling, foraging and even making white chocolate from local grains. In this regard, this restaurant is breaking new ground in the region. Dating back to 1326, this traditional inn located in the heart of Leogang has been run with enthusiasm by the same family for over 130 years. Barbara Kottke and her brother Hans-Jörg Unterrainer represent the sixth generation at the helm. In their cosy, rustic dining area – or, in summer, on the terrace with a view of the parish church – you can choose between a six-course tasting menu (also available in a pescetarian version) and à la carte dishes. Chef Stefan Birnbacher proposes, for example, a creation he calls "Alpine Waters": a mildly spiced, pickled brook trout served with a wafer-thin l

Alongside Silva and Mizūmi, this is another dining option at Naturhotel Forsthofgut. This restaurant keeps things completely regional. Food is served in a charming Alpine-style dining space with warm wood panelling. Authentic zither music enhances the cosy atmosphere, complemented by adept service provided by cordial staff in traditional dress. Diners sit at five rustic wooden tables and tuck into delicious regional fare such as classic Tafelspitz (prime boiled beef) with Pinzgauer beef – the bacon amuse-bouche is a real treat. What must be one of the smallest fine dining restaurants in the country awaits you at Naturhotel Forsthofgut. With space for just 10 diners and its stylish interior design, the place has an air of exclusivity. Michael Helfrich is in charge of the kitchen and serves up interesting modern dishes that showcase the flavours of the forest. The menu takes its cue from the changing seasons – fermentation and smoking also play a role. There are two set menus to choose from: "Wald" ("Forest") and the vegetarian "Wiese" ("Meadow"). All courses are also available à la carte for maximum flexibility. Servi

A haven for fans of Japanese cuisine, this restaurant serves excellent sushi and sashimi, house-made ramen, barbecued dishes and a classic bento box. The interior has a suitably Nippon aesthetic featuring clean lines, dark tones and a large open kitchen with a sushi bar. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the natural pond and the outdoor pool of Forsthofgut, the fantastic family and spa hotel that houses the restaurant.
