In the heart of Ibla, one of the most evocative historic districts not only of this wonderful island but of Italy itself, chef Ciccio Sultano embodies the very essence of Sicily, also through his latest “citrica” philosophy, about which he will – undoubtedly – tell you once you are seated in his classic, elegant venue just steps from the Duomo di San Giorgio (well worth a visit). You will be welcomed and served with refinement and expertise by a young, passionate team, including a carefully curated wine selection. Drawing on a profound knowledge of his land, the charismatic and friendly chef s

Situated on the ring road which runs around Ibla, one of the most charming and picturesque historic districts in Sicily, this restaurant is as delightful as its surroundings. Despite being partly built into the rock, the dining room here is elegant rather than rustic and the service highly attentive, making this the perfect choice for a romantic, gourmet dinner. Vincenzo Candiano is an extraordinary chef who continues to experiment with new dishes, combining classic favourites with other more innovative recipes (still with a Sicilian influence) on his menu. There’s also a renowned wine list wi

A painting for sea lovers, admired in all its splendor through the dining room’s floor-to-ceiling windows. Behind guests, the open kitchen hosts two chefs – Giuseppe Causarano and Antonio Colombo – who create dishes of surprising quality and creativity, where fresh catch naturally takes center stage. Among the standouts that won us over: smoked spaghetti with butter and anchovies, a dish of exceptional creaminess, aromatics, and intensity. Seemingly simple, it demonstrates excellent technique and is worth the journey alone! On the wine front, let Cettina, the sommelier, be your guide on a jour

Housed in a palazzo full of history – the building was a synagogue before the 1693 earthquake and has retained its ritual bath in its charming room of mirrors – this restaurant bears the imprint of renowned chef Ciccio Sultano, holder of two Michelin stars at the nearby Duomo restaurant. The cuisine is eclectic yet with a Sicilian focus, plus the wine list is complemented by a choice of interesting cocktails.

Locanda Gulfi

In an isolated but well‑marked location that doesn’t escape the notice of oil and wine enthusiasts, Locanda Gulfi produces both, as you can tell from the view of the wine cellar visible from the dining room. The cuisine offers revisited Sicilian dishes, with the possibility of overnight accommodation and, naturally, tastings of the estate’s products, accompanied by dedicated menus or simple snacks specially designed for the occasion.

Accursio Craparo has returned to his “Roots”: in two simple and elegant dining rooms, or in the spacious and enchanting outdoor summer space overlooking the historic center – weather permitting – the offering is based on traditional Sicilian cuisine, presented in consistently generous dishes, sometimes enriched with a touch of personal interpretation.

It all began with the Cabbanna rotisserie, opened by grandfather Carmelo in 1971 and still going strong today, on his return from a time spent living in Venezuela. Fifty years later, his grandchildren are running a restaurant right opposite, in the central area of lower Modica, in a charming establishment with tasteful, welcoming interiors and several outdoor tables used in the summer. The menu is based on the island's ingredients and recipes, but also includes exotic influences — such as ceviche, known locally as “Ciauru ri mari” — reinterpreted with a contemporary twist. A slice of paradise in Modica’s historic center: delightful terrace service among the lemon trees and a professional legacy carried on by chef-patron Peppe Barone's daughters – Carla in the dining room and Francesca in the kitchen – who, with youthful energy, champion a highly original gastronomic offering that balances innovation with tradition. They draw freely from the island’s culinary history, enriching it with exotic touches often characterized by gently spiced flavors. The wine program is equally impressive: guests can confidently rely on their recommendations to discover something spec
