For more than 20 years, Heike and Michael Philipp have been dedicated to keeping their guests happy. The very popular "Classique" set menu showcases a modern take on classic cuisine in four or six courses. The cooking is remarkably precise and bold, seamlessly incorporating Mediterranean and Asian accents. A standout example is the house-made agnolotti with lightly smoked mushrooms, miso and Périgord truffle. The carte blanche surprise menu is available as an alternative on Sat and Sun lunchtime and Sun evening. When it comes to wine, you can rely entirely on the recommendations of your extrem

The Michel family have always run their restaurant with great dedication, and now the fourth generation is at the helm. Two brothers make this an experience to remember: Wolfgang draws on good produce to cook tasty dishes ranging from traditional home-style fare to refined cuisine. Stefan will be delighted to recommend the right Franconian wine to go with your food. Plus well-kept guestrooms.

The couple who run this restaurant put everything they have into creating a warm atmosphere and serving seasonal cuisine that draws on regional and Mediterranean influences. The set menu also comes in a vegetarian version. In addition to the cosy, lovingly decorated dining area inside, there are a handful of outdoor tables affording views of the historical buildings of this charming little town. This business is a Slow Food member.

What an incredible spot! Guests cross a bridge to reach the lavishly restored Schloss Frankenberg, which enjoys a beautiful elevated location. As well as incorporating a hotel and vineyard, this grand estate is home to Le Frankenberg, whose stylish and elegant interior exudes historical charm. Guided by the theme "French. Franconian. Fine.", the kitchen presents the five- to seven-course set menu "Innovative Klassik by Sascha Bungeroth", with vegetarian and vegan versions available on request with at least two weeks' notice. The international wine list is well curated and includes wines from t

Both foodies and oenophiles are in for a real treat at Winzerhof Stahl. A passionate winemaker, owner Christian Stahl places the wine from his own vineyard at the heart of the kitchen, as inspiration for the flavour and direction of his cuisine. The dishes on the modern nine-course surprise set menu are perfectly paired with the nine accompanying wines. Sit back and enjoy this fine interplay in a lovely setting: the interior sees a charming blend of minimalist design and features of the original building, such as exposed wooden beams and stone walls. A pleasantly intimate atmosphere reigns in

KUNO 1408

This really lovely restaurant in the centre of the Baroque city has a long tradition dating back to 1408. Kuno von Rebstock is said to have been one of the first owners of the Zum Rebstock estate at that time – hence the name. Today, diners can look forward to the ingredient-led cuisine of chef duo Robin Hofmann and Patrick Grieshaber. Creative modern dishes such as "pike-perch, tomato, spinach, black pearl caviar" or "carrot, cauliflower, ponzu, lion's mane mushroom" are served as part of a four- to six-course set menu by a professional yet friendly and relaxed front-of-house team, who give e

In April 2024, Konstantin Kuntzsch – formerly of the restaurant Speiseberg in Halle an der Saale – opened his own place here near the Main River and the old town. His business partner and co-founder Florian Mack is your sommelier and host, heading up the friendly front-of-house team. Ambitious chef Konstantin Kuntzsch conjures up a creative seasonal seven-course set menu. The perfectly pink roasted saddle of Bavarian fawn with a mild hazelnut crust, for example, makes an impression in terms of both technique and flavour. The meat pairs beautifully with the celery and apple flavours and the sil

This trendy, modern restaurant is perfectly summed up by its slogan of "French sophistication with a Franconian soul". The ambitious food, made with top-notch ingredients, is bold and expressive. The appealing menu includes a small à la carte selection (featuring dishes such as "Grass-fed beef tartare, crisps, wheat beer foam, mustard seeds, quail's egg, radishes"), a selection of dry-aged beef, and a weekly menu with dishes available individually or in a set menu format. It is no coincidence that they go by the name "Weinforum": on the premises, there is also an integrated wine shop with a go
