In this lovely 15C red-brick house, chef Ben Piette and his wife Lornette found the ideal setting for their dream project. From the façade, you wouldn’t guess this was once a courthouse, but inside you’ll find a door leading to what was the judge’s bench. It’s a tiny place with exposed beams and a rustic style and is keenly run by a young couple. Cooking sees a little intricacy added to well-presented, country house style dishes.

This restaurant is temporarily closed following a fire.‘The Hodd’ is a characterful pub at the heart of the village, and offers a friendly welcome and charm aplenty with its rustic brickwork and exposed timbers. Understated menu descriptions belie the skill involved in the experienced chef’s well-crafted dishes. Be sure to save room for pudding and stay overnight in one of the five bedrooms so you can explore more of the local area.
