Griggeler Stuba

Modern Cuisine, International · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

Set within the car-free enclave of Oberlech, Burg Vital Resort is home to this stylish wood-panelled restaurant. In the small open kitchen, Sebastian Jakob (formerly of Schloss Ellmau) and his team create flavoursome dishes using outstanding ingredients and incorporating a judicious and intriguing Japanese twist. One example: wonderfully tender and succulent langoustine served with a mildly spicy cream of wasabi greens, delicately flavoured edamame, lightly smoked eel and an elegant, frothy shellfish sauce. A knowledgeable sommelier is on hand to guide you through the seemingly endless wine ce

As well as tasteful, individually designed guestrooms, Hotel Arlberg is home to this elegant restaurant, which is accessed via a separate entrance. Ornate details such as warm wood finishings, a partially painted ceiling, stylish upholstered armchairs and classic-style wall lamps create a wonderful atmosphere, which is complemented by experienced and attentive service. Then there is the Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine, which they dub "Monte e Mare". The tasting menu, comprising five to eight courses, also comes in a vegetarian version. One outstanding dish is the tender, juicy lobster medallion i

Rote Wand Chef's Table

Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★★ Michelin

In the exclusive Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel – formerly a modest inn in Zug's old schoolhouse – guests are treated to a very special culinary experience. After an aperitif and a selection of appetisers in the little parlour downstairs, you proceed upstairs to a chic dining area in which warm wood meets sleek design; there you take a seat on one of the comfortable bar chairs arranged around a horseshoe counter. A special atmosphere reigns here, and this is due in no small part to the well-coordinated, charming and laid-back service team. Julian Stieger, who comes from Upper Austria, brings his high

Fusion, Asian Influences

€€€€

This chic restaurant is very much at home in Lech. Behind the large glass-paned façade a tastefully designed space with a modern feel awaits. The open kitchen certainly plays its part – you can watch the chefs from almost anywhere. The cuisine is a fusion of Asian and European – a style to which they have been committed for years. The wine list absolutely deserves a mention, being one of the finest in the country – the Champagne and Burgundy selection leaves nothing to be desired. The bar area is also inviting – ideal for an aperitif or a nightcap.

Located near the Schlegelkopf piste, the luxurious Almhof Schneider hotel, built in 1929, is home to this fine dining restaurant, which is only open during the winter. At lunchtime and in the evening, you can enjoy Austrian cuisine with international influences: the menu includes Fiaker goulash, Wagyu steak, Riesling Beuschel (offal ragout) with bread dumplings and, for dessert, Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake). The wine list, comprising over 1 200 labels, is superb. Meals are served in two tastefully decorated dining spaces: Wunderkammer, designed by artist Paul Renner, and Herbarium, featur

If you want to savour classic French-influenced cuisine without having to commit to a set menu, the lovely, cosy restaurant of Hotel Pfefferkorn is just the place for you. The à la carte menu lives up to the establishment's name, incorporating a unique touch of exoticism with one of 13 peppers in each dish. Think carabineros prawn with fruity curry, pickled golden beet, tomato, ginger, and Indian mountain pepper, or pigeon à la royale with pear, parsnip, fried onion, and smoked Malabar pepper. There is no reason to worry that the food will be excessively spicy – chef Christian Wild has a light
