Villa René Lalique

Creative, Modern Cuisine · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

René Lalique was the most prominent jeweller of the turn of the 20C and the Art nouveau movement. His legacy lives on in Wingen-sur-Moder in this historic edifice on the outskirts of the village, home to a museum and a luxury hotel. A sleek modern extension houses the restaurant helmed by Paul Stradner who consummately marries produce from Alsace and further afield (goose foie gras, blue lobster, Sparsbach trout). The Austrian chef signs painstakingly crafted dishes steeped in delicate, intelligent and creative nods that bear witness to his bold hallmark, courtesy of occasionally surprising ju

L'Arnsbourg

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

Laure and Fabien Mengus are at the helm of this iconic restaurant. Fabien, who had already made his talent known at the nearby Le Cygne, demonstrates that he is perfectly at ease building bridges between tradition and modernity – both in terms of the decor and the food. Relax in these peaceful surroundings overlooking the forest as you sample a varied lineup that showcases emblematic seasonal ingredients.

La Merise

Modern Cuisine · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

This traditional Alsace house near Haguenau is a remarkable new construction built out of old materials so as to seamlessly blend in with its rural setting overlooking the hills and orchards. It is the haunt of Christelle and Cédric Deckert. Using high-quality ingredients, the chef concocts his own intriguing take on classical, yet never boring recipes, enhanced by subtle and skilfully prepared jus and sauces.

Kasbür

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Established in 1932 on the outskirts of Saverne, Kasbür has been linked to the Kieffer family for three generations. The restaurant is named after the great-grandfather, a farmer who made his cheeses here, and it is Yves Kieffer, his great-grandson, who brought this imposing building into the modern era. The elegant contemporary dining room looking out onto the lush Alsace countryside is run with a great sense of hospitality by Béatrice, his wife. Driven by a strong sense of his heritage and unwavering standards, the chef cooks with top-notch seasonal produce, such as asparagus from Mallemort

Auberge Saint-Walfrid

Classic Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Situated on the road from Metz to Strasbourg, this pretty little inn – once a farm belonging to the church in Welferding – has been run by the same family since the late 19C. Having taken over from his father who built up the auberge’s gastronomic reputation in the region, Stephan Schneider (fifth generation) is now at the helm here. Guests dine in a large, plush and warmly decorated dining room with old parquet flooring and cabinets laden with gleaming Sarreguemines earthenware. The chef is a staunch champion of tradition who works with local market gardeners (he also has his own kitchen gard

Restaurant Dimofski

Modern Cuisine · Bib

€€

This restaurant housed in an imposing 1950’s edifice a dozen or so kilometres outside Sarreguemines is just the ticket for a slap-up meal with all the trimmings. Wholehearted and single-minded, Julien Dimofski’s enthusiasm can be tasted in delectable, carefully crafted dishes overflowing in ambition (snails in potato nests, langoustine gently seared in butter or free-range roasted squab in a simple parsley sauce). The infectiously cosy, voluntarily rustic interior is further enhanced by the warm welcome and service proffered by Véronique, Julien’s mum.

Hämmerle's Restaurant

Modern French, Creative · ★ Michelin

€€€€

A charming, long-standing family business, where Cliff Hämmerle sticks to what he does best: serving classic cuisine, skilfully imbued with creative touches. He works with top-notch ingredients and likes to use plenty of vegetables, especially regional produce. The pâtissier's creations are testament to his passion for his work. The concept is a seven-course "Chef's Table" set menu, of which a vegetarian version is also available. In the tasteful modern setting, service starts at 7pm for up to 12 diners seated at four tables – everyone has a view of the open kitchen, so you're practically in t

Die Brasserie

Classic Cuisine, Contemporary · ★ Michelin

Behind the striking red façade, the unpretentious atmosphere of a brasserie meets the standards of a MICHELIN-starred restaurant. In a beautiful setting adorned with paintings, diners sit in comfortable, stylish upholstered armchairs at polished wooden tables and savour a four- to six-course menu, available with fish and meat or in a vegetarian version. Chef-patron Vjekoslav Pavic's pleasingly pared-back style is both elegant and punchy. The quality of the ingredients is absolutely top-tier, whether it is skrei from the Lofoten Islands or Ibérico pork. Attentive service comes courtesy of a pro
