Both foodies and oenophiles are in for a real treat at Winzerhof Stahl. A passionate winemaker, owner Christian Stahl places the wine from his own vineyard at the heart of the kitchen, as inspiration for the flavour and direction of his cuisine. The dishes on the modern nine-course surprise set menu are perfectly paired with the nine accompanying wines. Sit back and enjoy this fine interplay in a lovely setting: the interior sees a charming blend of minimalist design and features of the original building, such as exposed wooden beams and stone walls. A pleasantly intimate atmosphere reigns in

Diners walk past the open kitchen into the trendy dining space, where attentive service comes courtesy of a friendly and dedicated front-of-house team. The cuisine is modern and seasonal, with many ingredients sourced from regional producers. Dishes such as ravioli, Parmigiano Reggiano and green olive or guinea fowl, chanterelles and lovage demonstrate a pleasing sense of clarity and coherence with delightful contrasts and perfectly balanced flavours. The small cards providing information about the dishes are a nice idea. Create your own menu by choosing five, seven or nine courses. The staff

Lars Zwick has been running this cosy, rustic-style inn in the charming Tauber Valley for many years. The cuisine is regional and seasonal, and the excellent produce is sourced locally as far as possible. Freshly prepared sausages (made in-house) are served on Thursdays and Fridays. Some of the wines – to pair with delicious dishes such as rack of lamb in a herb crust – come from the restaurant's own vineyard. They also produce their own fruit brandies and keep bees. The old barn serves as a function room and wine tastings are held in the vaulted cellar. The pretty guestrooms exude rural charm

For more than 20 years, Heike and Michael Philipp have been dedicated to keeping their guests happy. The very popular "Classique" set menu showcases a modern take on classic cuisine in four or six courses. The cooking is remarkably precise and bold, seamlessly incorporating Mediterranean and Asian accents. A standout example is the house-made agnolotti with lightly smoked mushrooms, miso and Périgord truffle. The carte blanche surprise menu is available as an alternative on Sat and Sun lunchtime and Sun evening. When it comes to wine, you can rely entirely on the recommendations of your extrem

Two brothers make this an experience to remember: Wolfgang draws on good produce to cook tasty dishes ranging from traditional home-style fare to refined cuisine. Stefan will be delighted to recommend the right Franconian wine to go with your food. Plus well-kept guestrooms.

If you are a fan of fresh and seasonal regional cuisine, the Bogner family's restaurant will be right up your street. This place is cosy and the service comes courtesy of friendly and well-drilled waitstaff managed by the lady of the house. As for the wine, the focus is also on the region. In summer, the leafy courtyard terrace is in great demand. You can also spend the night in one of the well-kept, comfortable guestrooms.
