Le Clair de la Plume

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Nestling at the foot of a château that is famous for having welcomed Madame de Sévigné as a regular patron, this restaurant is the perfect embodiment of Provence's twin traditions of hospitality and good food: olive oil from Nyons, guinea fowl and diced vegetables from the Drôme are judiciously showcased by chef Benjamin Reilhes in the form of three tasting menus comprising several courses. One of the set menus draws entirely on plants. This restaurant is an ode to the Mediterranean's fine ingredients and Rhône Valley wines. Pastry chef Cédric Perret, meanwhile, creates desserts in harmony wit

Coteaux et Fourchettes

Modern Cuisine · Bib

€€

This cleverly named restaurant (a pun on côteaux meaning hills and couteaux meaning knives) is housed in an old wine cellar. The region is well represented both by the delicious cuisine and by the excellent choice of local wines. Pleasant, contemporary decor and a terrace overlooking the vineyards.

Le Colombier

Creative, Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Built on the ruins of a hermitage in the heart of Provençal Drôme, this proud homestead first woos us with its bare stone walls and lime vaults. Johan Thyriot then bowls us over with a creative score presented by theme: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. Dishes, such as ikejime trout or guinea fowl roasted whole, are further enhanced by permaculture vegetables. Rare peppers and aromatic plants are the guiding thread that binds these compositions together. High-flying, distinctive craftsmanship.

Villa Augusta

Modern Cuisine

€€

This villa in Drôme Provençale houses a spacious, simply furnished restaurant. The rotunda section has large bay windows looking onto a terrace, which is a delightful spot in summer. In the kitchen, the chef ensures a smooth transition with modern dishes that honour past traditions. The menu is based on seasonal produce and local ingredients: Ventoux pork, Ardèche bacon, cod au gratin with aioli, flavoursome beef cheek confit with red wine and corn espuma. In the evening, there is a choice of two set menus, with each dish also available à la carte. Indulgent desserts and comfortable guestrooms

Campagne, Vignes et Gourmandises

Provençal

€€

With its atmosphere blending rustic charm (exposed stones, painted wooden furniture) and modern touches (contemporary paintings), this restaurant has bags of character. In the kitchen, chef Sylvain Fernandes prepares fresh ingredients in a subtle celebration of the flavours of the South of France. Extremely courteous service provided by Sylvia, the chef's wife!

Le Bistrot de Villedieu

Provençal · Bib

€€

Laurent Azoulay cooks up Provençal cuisine channelling the spirit of a local bistro: beautiful stuffed tomatoes, Camargue rice with Nyons olives; Provençal-style pieds et paquets (mutton tripe and feet), mashed potatoes with olive oil. The fragrant, carefully prepared dishes are full of character, and some are cooked in the wood-burning oven of the open kitchen. The space has a contemporary bistro-style aesthetic; on sunny days, nab a table on the shaded terrace in the village square. Guestrooms are available for overnight stays.

Le Temps de Vivre

Provençal

€€

This stone-built house, dating back to the 18C but with a contemporary decor, invites you to slow down and enjoy life, especially on its shaded terrace. The chef and his wife have the laws of hospitality down to a T. On the menu: the generosity of Provence, with vegetables grown by the father-in-law, in season; aioli on Friday lunchtime in summer, and a set menu dedicated to truffles in winter.

Le M - Château de Massillan

Modern Cuisine

€€€

This beautiful 16C castle stands in extensive grounds surrounded by vineyards. The food aims to enhance the estate’s organic cottage garden and orchard produce. You can wash down your meal with a biodynamic wine from the Domaine de la Guicharde, which also produces the olive oil used in the kitchen. Slick, smiling service. In summer, take a seat in the courtyard adorned with a fountain, overlooking the garden.
