This long-established inn has been run by the same family since 1612 and is now in the capable hands of Alexander Huber. Following a change in concept, the property now comprises two venues: the traditionally Bavarian Wirtshaus Huberwirt and Restaurant Alexander Huber. The latter serves as the fine dining counterpart and a presents a five- or seven-course tasting menu comprising dishes such as turbot with mussel chowder, artichoke, preserved lemon and cured egg yolk, or Pleiskirchen duck – breast and dumpling with shoyu, ginger, salsify and pointed cabbage. Christian's Restaurant - Gasthof Grainer
Classic Cuisine · ★ Michelin

The Grainer family has run this stately historical inn since the 16C. Christian F Grainer and his wife Christiane have established an upscale and tastefully designed space, combining classic style with understated modern accents. Your charming and cordial hostess puts her heart and soul into providing first-class service with a very personal touch. The chef-patron's cooking is rooted in classical French tradition, though he occasionally incorporates culinary impressions from his travels. A case in point is his pairing of Simmental beef fillet, stuffed morels, red wine sauce and celeriac purée

From the get-go, the stage is set in grand style: Following a spectacular overture in the form of various aperitifs, an artisanal bread selection and amuse-bouches, Edip Sigl reveals why it is worth making the trip to dine at this restaurant in Das Achental hotel. He presents two incredible set menus: "Chiemgau pur" (devoted to the region) and "Chiemgau goes around the world" (a combination of local and international ingredients). Both feature modern creations that are complex but not overdone, highly refined and consistently elegant – think langoustine, artichoke, kumquat, pea, bisque, or the

Rico Birndt has come up with a modern concept that makes vegetables the heart of the meal. There are two surprise menus – one comprising eight courses and the other 12 courses. Canned, cured and pickled ingredients also have their role to play. The airy, modern interior and the relaxed atmosphere are certainly inviting, the large window front provides a view of the outside. There are a few seats at the small bar – here, jars of preserves are part of the decoration, in keeping with the philosophy of the house. The chefs join in with serving the food and are happy to present and explain the dish

Wachter Foodbar

In the former cookery school and bistro of his mentor Thomas Mühlberger, young Dominik Wachter has introduced a modern "counter concept". In the cool, chic and urban atmosphere, you sit comfortably at the large bar in the middle of the space or at one of the high tables, from which you can watch the action at the kitchen pass unfold. The set menu (choose between four- to six-course formats) uses mainly regional ingredients, and the owner also forages for mushrooms, wild herbs, nuts etc from the local forests. Time after time, Dominik Wachter successfully presents beautifully balanced contrasts

Diners are assured of warm hospitality courtesy of Stefanie and Franz Tanner at this establishment that has been run by the family since 1995. Their dedication is palpable in the chic, modern Alpine-style guestrooms, the tasteful restaurant with its lounge atmosphere and, finally, the excellent food. Dishes such as "venison ragout, Martl's hunt, mushroom rösti, cranberries, celery purée, pretzel dumplings" are seasonal and made with select ingredients that are sourced almost exclusively from the region and preferably organic. The lunch set menu is enticing. The kitchens are open for hot meals

Standing in the heart of the beautiful old town is this house with a strikingly painted facade. The many regulars appreciate the pleasant, contemporary-rural ambience, charming service and fresh, tasty dishes, such as marinated salmon with wasabi and cucumber or braised venison with bread dumplings and vegetables. Small terrace in summer.

Who would expect to find a restaurant like this in the small town of Frasdorf? This place may be a little out of the way, but the talent and ambition of the young chef definitely make a visit worthwhile. Comprising five, six or eight courses, the set menu presents carefully considered dishes with their own unique flair, incorporating influences from all over the world, from France to Asia to New Zealand. The quality of the ingredients is beyond question. The seasonal Bavarian venison served with a pepper curry, for example, is delicious, not to mention the exquisite desserts. Fantastic wine li
